After some 26 years with Herts County Council in social services and then economic and community development, I joined Southampton’s New Deal for Communities programme on the Thornhill Estate. As the 10 year programme was coming to an end, I retired back to Hertfordshire and retrained as a plumber, setting up as sole trader. More recently I have also taken up looking after 38 Siberian huskies for a kennels local to where I live. That has give me some time to become a Trustee as well. I live with my long-suffering wife and three dogs. Happily my two children have fled the nest and are producing their own fledglings.
